Drainage Strategies for Secondary School Block
SuDS Designs works with homeowners, architects, developers and contractors to deliver effective sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). Each project showcases how well-planned drainage design and surface water management reduce flood risk, achieve planning compliance, and strengthen long-term resilience.

Civil engineering played a critical role in delivering the new Science, DT, and Food Technology block at a secondary school, where JMS Engineers were tasked with addressing complex site constraints from the outset.
The confined footprint and limited access demanded a carefully considered drainage strategy. We developed a bespoke surface water management solution, designed to integrate seamlessly with the SIPS-led superstructure and surrounding levels. Our work ensured compliance with SuDS principles while meeting tight programme requirements.
Foundation and substructure designs were coordinated alongside the wider MMC approach to ensure stability, serviceability, and speed of delivery.
With space, sequencing, and rainfall flow all under pressure, our civil engineering input helped turn a demanding site into a fully functioning educational facility.
