Redevelopment of St Mary's Lodge
SuDS Designs works with homeowners, architects, developers and contractors to deliver effective sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). Each project showcases how well-planned drainage design and surface water management reduce flood risk, achieve planning compliance, and strengthen long-term resilience.

SuDS Designs by JMS Civils played a key role in managing surface water sustainably for the transformation of St Mary’s Lodge, a historic mansion in Stoke Newington devastated by fire. As part of the wider redevelopment - including a new four-storey school - SuDS Designs implemented green roofs and permeable surfaces to control rainwater runoff and reduce pressure on the local drainage network.
JMS Engineers provided the structural design, including the restoration of the mansion, a new basement, and a steel-framed structure to support reconstructed floors and façades. The school features concrete composite floors, reinforced concrete slabs, and piled foundations, ensuring long-term stability.
This project seamlessly integrates heritage preservation with modern engineering solutions, creating a resilient and sustainable environment for education and community use.
